Our Standard Window Features Reduce Noise
Ringer Windows are designed and built from the start to help make your Austin, TX home quiet and energy efficient. We can further enhance their sound dampening qualities but if your needs are moderate, this is often unnecessary. A closer look reveals why our standard window features make it more difficult for sound to penetrate. First, we use thicker, heavier vinyl frames and sashes than the aluminum or builder-grade windows in many homes. In addition, our windows have more substantial materials and thicker glass. Lastly, the double pane glass in them is hermetically sealed with argon gas in very tight, permanent insulated glass units. In total, these window elements will keep your home’s interior quieter potentially making further sound reduction unnecessary.
Noise Drops Dramatically After Aluminum Window Replacement
When clients replace thin aluminum single pane windows with our standard double pane ones, the reduced noise level is often astonishing. Most notice a very significant change in how quiet their homes become. In fact, this new level of sound control generally far exceeds expectations. Best of all, it comes with our standard “right out of the box” windows whether you buy a premium or value product!

We Use Laminated Glass for the Best Sound Control Windows
For the best sound control windows with increased security as an added feature, we recommend laminated glass. Windows with it look exactly like our standard ones. However, the glass we put in them is the same as in car and truck windshields. A PVB vinyl interlayer makes it very tough and dense, but also deadens most noise when it’s used in sound control windows. Laminated glass is a bit more expensive, but for maximum sound control with the additional benefit of security windows there’s nothing better. You can see a window with this glass installed in the Walk of Windows Showroom at our headquarters.
Our laminated glass has an extra internal layer which helps deaden sound transmission

Final Tip: Various Sound Frequencies Have Differing Levels of Control
Unfortunately, some sound frequencies are much harder to block than others. Deep bass sounds are more difficult to stop than those in the mid and high ranges. Bass is also non-directional and permeates everything in a room including walls and windows. Laminated glass helps stop mid and high range sound waves which can be a vast improvement but does little for bass. This is why we carefully explain sound dynamics to clients before upgrading the glass in our vinyl windows.
