People often ask us bid their window and/or door package from a set of plans. We have NO issues with spending time reviewing & quoting your building plans. We do the best we can to properly bid your request but we are not infallible. Here is the official position of Ringer Windows with respects to plan reading & quoting. Ringer Windows guarantees that we will correctly build all ordered windows to the specifications and sizes listed in our proposals, contracts, and window schedules.

  1. We do the best we can but the ultimate and final responsibility of approving your order is the responsibility of the person who signs the contract/proposal.
  2. We do our best to quote your windows to pass and/or meet all local building code requirements for your project, including EGRESS CODES and the type of required glass in each window, for example, annealed or tempered glass. It is the ultimate responsibility of the purchaser to review and confirm all correct window needs before placing an order. We will guide you as best we can. It is the responsibility of the window purchaser to review all correct window needs before placing an order.
  3.  All of our windows provide superior energy efficiency that will meet and/or surpass all the energy efficiency codes required by your local Building Inspector. Unless otherwise requested, your windows will include all appropriate Thermal Rating Stickers for the Inspectors.
  4. We did not draw or create the plans that you forwarded to us to bid for your project. It’s up to you, the window purchaser, to verify that your plans are drawn AND notated correctly. For example, if your Architect specifies something that does not meet code for any reason, we may not catch the error. It is the responsibility of the window purchaser to review all correct window needs, and confirm with your Builder or Architect, before placing an order. If you or your Architect specifically want us to verify that a certain window(s) will meet code, we will do our best to answer your question(s) and bid appropriately. It is the responsibility of the window purchaser to review all correct window needs before placing an order.
  5. People sometimes ask as us to bid different types, styles, and/or sizes of windows than are listed or included in their building plans. We accommodate these bid requests when possible of course, but it’s the absolute responsibility of the window purchaser to verify the correctness of their window order before finalizing the paperwork with Ringer Windows. Verify your order before signing the final docs, especially if you’ve asked us to bid windows/doors that are different than on your plans. It is the responsibility of the window purchaser to review all correct window needs before placing an order.
  6. We often read plans that contain discrepancies within the drawings, schedules, and floor plans. For example, it’s not uncommon to find an elevation drawing that illustrates a Single Hung window but the floor plan calls & lists that same exact opening as a Picture Window. We try to catch these errors but Ringer Windows is not responsible for “wrongly ordered windows” when there are discrepancies in the plans. It is the responsibility of the window purchaser to review all correct window needs before placing an order.
  7. Lastly, we occasionally (accidentally) omit windows because we simply don’t see them on your plans. Again, it’s up to the person who’s responsible for ordering your windows to ensure that we counted and estimated ALL your windows. Additional windows can be built, but there will be additional costs for more windows, and delivery fees, than listed in the original proposal. It is the responsibility of the window purchaser to review all correct window needs before placing an order.
